Tired but Happy!

Daryl and Tara brought their twins Haakon and Kyllikki. ?I brought my daughter and son. ?We met up in Toutle and headed up to one of my favorite spots to spend the day digging in the dirt.

Hiking

The hike wasn't that long.

Haakon and Kyllikki had never been rockhounding before and were anxious to find out what it was like. ?They learned that you had to hike up gravel roads, bushwhack through the brush, and be willing to get dirty.

Hiking

The brush wasn't to thick.

Once we reached our destination, I went over the rules: ?No digging in the creek! Fill in your holes! Pack out what you find. ?They were very happy to get right in and start digging.

Kaliki

Kyllikki examines and cleans one of her first finds.

Haaken

Haakon learns the finer points of probing for agates.

I spent quite a bit of time digging in a previous hole. ?Scott enjoyed himself working on a deeper mud filled hole. ?Leilani did the most exploring. ?Daryl and Tara helped everywhere and even managed to dig a couple of holes themselves.

We ended the day at about 1:00pm. ?Everyone found some nice carnelian, petrified wood, and jasper and had fun doing it(although Daryl got to carry out Haakon’s and Kyllikki’s finds for them).

We finally got back to the vehicles and Haakon and Kyllikki both were very glad to sit on the soft car seats.

Tired but Happy!

I think we all got enough material to enjoy. ?Here is a picture of the ones I brought home.

Agate

You are such a great role model for the younger ones. Experiences like these will never be forgotten.

Some, if not all of old dudes quite enjoy going along on these web site tours too!

    BTW, nice looking material.
