Slippery Slope!

Hiking the slope.

Jerry and I worked our way across the slope. ?It was slippery and wet because of the recent rain. ?It took us about an hour to work our way to the spot where we wanted to work a seam of Tahoma Agate.

This seam was the one I found last week. ?When we arrived the slope didn’t appear changed much. ?It was still 45 degrees and still hard to work. ?Fortunately Jerry brought a length of rope and we tied ourselves off to a sturdy bush.

The rocks that this seam was in were very unstable, and the slope kept falling down into our dig hole causing extra work. ?We were still able to dig some nice Tahoma despite the hazards and delays.

Tahoma

Just a fraction of what we dug from this seam.

After a quick bite of lunch Jerry decided to continue working at this spot while I headed off prospecting for more seams. ?I spend about an hour crawling up, down, and over the slopes, ?locating a couple of spots that showed promise for future trips.

I returned to where Jerry was and we made ready to head out. ?It was now 3:10pm. ?The hike out took quite awhile since I was carrying 38 pounds of Tahoma Agate and Jerry had 30 pounds in his pack.

This turned out to be a great day. ?The weather turned out perfect, the companionship was good, and the agate was top quality.

Thanks for joining us.

Richard. Great trip, I had such fun digging out the Tahoma. Now about that 45 degree slope, it looks like 50 plus with me in the picture, maybe I am just leaning. Anyway it was a great day. Thanks

OK guys, I just used my protractor to measure the angle of the ground below the big snag (slight curve to it) which is just behind and downhill from Jerry. Now I’m sure Richard was just a little dyslexic when he said it was 45 degrees. I got 54 degrees. That’s OK, Richard – I just heard that dyslexics have more nuf. Since I haven’t been to this particular site, all I can comment on is the steep slope.

Garry: My camera was off by 9 degrees. 🙂 It was steep at anything above 40 degrees.
