<description>Much nicer finds than what Kathy, the neighbors, and I found this week end digging to put in a fence between our place, and the neighbors. Oh, the ground was dry, and hard LOL! We have had to dig out a big hump to run the fence so it does not go up and down.

		<description>Nate:

I apologize. The 1290 road doesn't actually meet Hwy 504. I will send some better directions to your email address.

Sorry for the mix up.

Good rockhunting.

		<description>Woody:

It saddens me also, especially when it is caused by destructive rockhounding activities.

We did have a good time though.

<description>Saddens me to hear of yet another site being closed to rockhounding. Nice to see the day was not lost, and all had a good time digging.

		<description>Richard,
It is always a pleasure to read about your adventures! Even the ones that do not produce the materials brought home make for good reading at lunch time. I capture the pictures in my mind and pretend I'm there instead of working, hoping the next picture leads to a better find - but they are where you find them and ruling out places of where not to go is the same for any fisherman. You have to get your bait wet to catch fish - or in your case, get your feet wet in the streams to find the next Material Location, or not!

		<description>Richard:

Your "fungus" is actually a flowering plant. Common names are Indian Pipe, or Ghost plant. It is saprolitic living on dead, and decaying wood. It does not need sunlight to grow since it derives its food from the dead wood, and fungus growing on the wood.
So, I knew that forestry Degree was worth more than a pretty wall decoration.
You got a very good specimen photograph, too bad your camera died. Hope it will come back to life.
